interview today, moammar gadhafi showed some serious signs of dilutions. >> protests in libya's capital. several hundred demonstrators gathered for a march before pro government fighters chased them away. the protesters left behind their message for moammar gadhafi to leave. in geneva, they had the same message, that gadhafi must go and he should be held accountable. >> these universal rights are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. >> slapped a libyan government with new sanctions, including an armed embargo. leaders are discussing a no fly zone over libya to prevent. >> our message to colonel gadhafi is simple, go now. >> gadhafi gave an interview

robert lyles on a mentally ill man who died while trying to get his meds. >> my son is sick. mentally sick. >> shocked and angry, the mother raced from her home, telling reporters who son lay dead in the backyard as san mateo police were killers. >> he went for medication and they said they have to pay, he never pay. so they kill him. >> she wants to know why police didn't use greater care and caution. san mateo police describe a situation far more dire. they say robert karen brought a gun into the cvs pharmacy. running to his home blocks away. >> everybody knows. the police know. they have to pay. to pay what? i never pay, okay, and he got very upset, came home, and they send the police here.

>> address on the prescription bottle led police right to karen, who they knew because of a violent past. >> it was fairly extensive and it involved behavior such that there was a notice on record. >> which means that officers should use extra caution, but police say when they arrived on oak street. >> suspect pointed a handgun directly at the officer and fired upon them. >> he missed, so the two officers chase into the backyard where karen pointed the gun again, but the officers didn't miss. karen was killed instantly. police say an investigation is underway. but, they've already recovered the gun. >> so there were expended casings within that gun. >> robert lyles, cbs 5. >> public employees are taking a will the of heat over pay and pensions. well now state regulators say they caught bay area transit drivers asleep on the job. literally asleep on the job. and that's not all.

as joe vazquez reports. >> muni operators sleeping, snacking, and reading on the job? that's the claim of inspectors with the cpuc, the california public utilities commission. on april 26 of last year while investigationing a previous unrelated fatality at the castro station. an inspector reports he found a train operator he believed to be passed out. according to the report, it took a few seconds for the operator to respond. he replied, no, i'm not sleeping. muni sources say that driver denies he was sleeping and is fighting the allegation. february 23 of last year, an inspector said a bus driver was observed speeding and later abandoning his bus to go into a bus and buy snacks. and another incident, he saw a train operator with a pile of newspapers, which made it look like he was being distracted by the news article. >> these are all isolated.

they are not representative of our operations. you know, the cpuc found a handful of folks accused of sleeping or accused of reading the newspaper. >> when you say isolated, they are still serious allegations. >> right. that's why we go through our system to make sure we are monitoring what our operators are doing and what we did in this case was make sure that each one of these operators received the appropriate disciplinary action. >> the train was moving in automatic when that one train operator was reported as having his eyes closed. when confronted by the investigator, he apparently got hostile, according to the report. muni is doing everything it can to cooperate to try and correct the problems details. reporting live in san francisco, joe vazquez, cbs 5. >> other bay area headlines now, starting tomorrow people

$1.8. cbs, the owner of this station, hasn't made any comments tonight. hpv is more common in men than many have thought. 50% of men are infected with this virus. they also say that about 2/3 of tongue and tonsil cancers are caused by hpv. about 80% of those cases happen in men. doctors say in most people, the virus just goes away on its own, but it may persist in men more than women. >> most sexually active people in the u.s. will have hpv at some time in their lives. most men who get hpv never develop symptoms or health problems, but some types can cause genital warts. others can cause cancer of the mouth. hpv can also cause penile cancer and anal cancer. >> the new findings will provoke more discussion about whether boys should be vaccinated against hpv. right now, federal health
